It doesn't matter how many times you drive the rolling prairie landscape of southern Alberta, there is always something new to see. One minute you're speeding along the highway, grain fields rolling out to a blue-sky horizon on either side -- then you descend down into an otherworldly valley taking you back 75 million years.

Carved by eons of wind and water into an eerie landscape, the canyons and buttes and gulches of Drumheller are still yielding their secrets from the dinosaur age.

But it's not all about the fossils. -

Did you miss out on this year Calgary Stampede cookouts?

Not to worry, enjoy western style hospitality on your stop at The Last Chance Saloon as you tour the Badlands.  Enjoy the world's best-tasting beef, a 12 oz Alberta steak, in this ghost town saloon.  When you enter the saloon, you go back to the past, to times gone by!   According to legend, the saloon is haunted by the friendly, pipe-puffing spirit of a previous owner.

Plan to enjoy a great lunch at the Last Chance Saloon, which in the 1920's was called the 'Bucket of Blood' because of all the fights the miners got into.  Bullet holes are still visible in the walls!  You really can’t get more Albertan than that!

Check the "Alberta Badlands" Companion Tour for further information.
