CANDE 5-year predictions from 2005

CANDE attempts to predict 3-5 years out.  The CANDE predictions for the years 2010, made in 2005, are:
 

• IC-Package CAD will be a part of standard design flow

• India & China will have more EDA startups than U.S.

• Analog Designers will still resist higher level models and languages

• Complete Open Source RTL-GDS flow

• Nearly all EDA tools will take advantage of multiprocessors

• Fewer than 200 commercial chips will have been released in 45 nm technology

• No practical nanotech computing products

• Spice type simulators will still be the workhorse of analog designs

• Moore’s law will be dead

• System in Package will boom
