CANDE (Computer-Aided Network Design Technical Committee) was formed in 1972 as an IEEE-affiliated workshop dedicated to the exploration and promotion of the mid-range vision for CAD. Its annual workshop is attended by leading CAD researchers, development managers, and engineers from universities, industries, and the government. During its two-day workshop, members freely exchange their views and thoughts, and explore coming growth areas for CAD applications. Historically, a number of the topics explored at CANDE blossomed into key R&D topics in the next three to five years.

CANDE workshop sessions are known for their stimulating discussions centered around topics presented in the lead-off talks given by experts in the field. The afternoon free time offers a relaxed environment for participants to get together and discuss the latest research development and ideas as well as business and management topics. Top CAD researchers and managers from leading universities and companies. The participation is limited to 60 people.

No proceedings, recording or videotaping. Three sessions, each consisting of one to three talks with a lot of discussions and audience particpation during and after talks. Friday afternoon is an "open session" for individuals to participate in group activities or discussions.

CANDE will be held this year in Cabo San Lucas, just after the IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference, which is being held in San Diego. Convenient and inexpensive air travel between Cabo San Lucas and San Diego (and other parts of the country) are available. The workshop fee is $465 ($460 if you contribute one or more questions related to this year's session topics). This fee covers the workshop, two nights of hotel (May 9-10) at the Inter-Continental Hotel, and all meals and beverages at the hotel.
