Paper Awards - Rules
We will start the process of paper award nominations at the ICIP meeting in the
year of the paper awards.
By January 1 of the following year, we would have had all the material prepared
for the distribution to:
- committee members
- relevant transactions Associate Editors (IP, SP, MM)
- general public through ads in the SP Magazine and IP Transactions
This material will consist of:
- description of awards
- eligibility rules
- list of previous winners
- nomination instructions
Material will be distributed via:
- Web site
- email to committee members and AE's as a reminder to look up the web site
- we will advertize in the SP Magazine and IP Transactions (mostly we will
point to the Web address)
Process for handling the nominations:
- the subcommittee will compile a list of all nominations received and put
it on the Web (internal site)
- if there are N nominations, each person can cast at most floor(N/2) YES
votes (unless there are only 1 or 2 in which case we will skip the ranking procedure
and go straight to voting). The two nominations with most YES votes will be
then voted on
Process for voting for paper awards:
- a member can either abstain from voting or vote YES for one of the two papers
- nomination will be forwarded to the Awards Board if it has at least 50%
YES of all votes cast
- the second paper will be forwarded to the Awards Board if it has at least
40% of all votes cast
- a member must abstain if his/her name is on the paper. in that case, that
vote does not count
