MISSION
This Task Force explores the
potential for open source software (OSS) in the Power
Engineering Society (PES). The mission of the Task Force is
twofold: (i) to diffuse the philosophy of OSS in the power
systems community; and (ii) promote OSS for the benefit of
the PES ranging all the way from simple pedagogical OSS to
commercial-grade OSS.
|
|
The whole idea of OSS is to
encourage others to join and contribute. We believe that the
most important thing for this Task Force is to get
people interested and involved.
|
|
To get this result, we collect in this
web page an as complete as possible list of open
source software packages for power system
analysis. Open source means that the full source code is
provided. When specified, the software are
also free, i.e. can be obtained free of charge
and can be freely modified and redistributed.
|
|
To better diffuse OSS philosophy, we
are also preparing a report that describes the state of the art of
OSS for power systems analysis and resumes the contributions of
two panel sessions on OSS held at the last IEEE PES General
Meetings (Montreal 2006 and Tampa 2007).
|
|
Any contributions, ideas or
suggestions are very welcome. If you are interested in becoming
a member of the OSS Task Force, want to contribute your
software, or simply give your suggestions, please
contact .
