ISEI 2008
Vancouver, 8-11 June 2008

Message from the General Chair

ISEI 2008
Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside
Vancouver, B.C., Canada

The International Symposium on Electrical Insulation is sponsored by the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society. Initiated in 1976, the 2008 conference is the 17th in the series and will be held once again in Canada.

The spectacular city of Vancouver, British Columbia is the setting for the next ISEI. Vancouver is a dynamic, multicultural city in the midst of majestic mountains, sparkling ocean, and magnificent rainforests. The Vancouver International Airport is easily accessible from all over the world. We have obtained preferred rates at the Renaissance Hotel (a Marriott property) located on the Vancouver waterfront.

Building on past conferences, ISEI 2008 will highlight the practical aspects of electrical insulation and is directed towards those people who develop, test or use electrical insulation in electrical equipment. IEEE standards working groups will meet during the conference. To provide further education in a variety of topics, four short courses will also be offered by known authorities in their fields. Please check the Short Courses web page for details and be sure to register early for these courses.

We have had an exceptional response to the call for papers and our preliminary technical program contains more than 250 papers in 10 topics. As in 2006, you will have an opportunity to have discussions directly with the authors of papers to be presented in poster sessions on Sunday and Monday evenings.

To authors, please remember the next important date – February 15, 2008 – for submission of your papers!

Another important date - for students wishing to apply for a stipend – March 15, 2008. Please see details and application form on the Home page.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we look forward to welcoming you to Vancouver in June 2008.
