5E-4. An Ultrasound-Actuated Micropump That Uses Nanoporous One-Way Membrane as Nozzle-Diffuser

In this paper, we study a nozzle-diffuser micropump that is actuated by ultrasound waves. The nozzle-diffuser is made of a nanoporous one-way membrane. The micropump was formed by enclosing the nanoporous membrane into a PMMA small chamber. Once immersed into ultrasonic water bath, the pump can continuously pump the water through the one-way membrane. This device is ideal for future implantable drug release system that can be remotely controlled by ultrasound waves.
