Tutorial ESDIS 1: Evolving Intelligent Systems in Real-Time: Methodology and Applications
Wednesday, April 1, 4:30PM-6:30PM, Room: Edgewood
Presenters: Plamen Angelov
Lancaster University
UK
Dimitar Filev
Ford Motor Co.
USA
The aim of this Tutorial session is to familiarize participants with the fundamentals, methodology, design, algorithms, implementation aspects, and some applications of evolving intelligent system paradigm paying special attention to on-line and real-time implementations and industrial relevance.
The tutorial will introduce the rationale and basics of this emerging topic while drawing close links with well established methodologies and algorithmic solutions for complex problems such as multi-model systems, adaptive systems, clustering for system structure identification, recursive learning, knowledge extraction from data streams, feature selection etc.
The presenters will mix the fundamental and theoretical presentation with more practice oriented experimental results that stem from their industry-based and industry-oriented research; the style will also attempt a mixture of didactic with research, applications and colloquial aspects.
The tutorial is suitable for researchers, engineers, students, and specialists with interests in system modeling, identification, classification, clustering, machine learning, data mining and solving real-time or large dimensional problems with non-linear, non-stationary characteristics.
