Special Session 19 - Special Session on Intelligent Vehicle Power Management

Chair/Organizer: Dr. Yi Lu Murphey

yilu@umich.edu

Automotive industry is facing increased challenges of producing affordable vehicles with increased electrical/electronic components in vehicles to satisfy consumers’ needs and, at the same time, with improved fuel economy and reduced emission without sacrificing vehicle performance, safety, and reliability. In order to meet these challenges, it is very important to optimize the architecture and various devices and components of the vehicle system, as well as the energy management strategy that is used to efficiently control the energy flow through a vehicle system. The objective of this special session is to bring together the researchers and practitioners in the fields of computational intelligence, vehicle power components and systems, engine controls, to present the latest technology in optimizing vehicle power system for conventional and hybrid electrical vehicles. This special session invites contribution in the areas including, but not limited to, using neural networks, fuzzy logic, evolutionary algorithms, stochastic or other machine learning techniques to vehicle power management.
