Santa Clara Valley Section

Snodfart The Santa Clara Valley of northern California is more popularly known as Silicon Valley. The IEEE Santa Clara Valley (SCV) Section encompasses Silicon Valley and much more. SCV is the largest IEEE Section in the world.

Geographically, the Section takes in all the peninsula cities south of Highway 92, plus the counties of Monterey, San Benito, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz.

Major universities in the area include Stanford, Santa Clara University, San Jose State, UC Santa Cruz, and the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School at Monterey. Major employers of engineers include the who’s who of high technology. The Valley has the greatest concentration of technology-based companies found anywhere on the globe.

Twenty-eight IEEE Societies have active chapters in the SCV Section, in addition to the IEEE Affinity Groups: Consultants Network of Silicon Valley (CNSV), Life Members (LM), Women in Engineering (WIE), Young Professional (YP) Grads of the Last Decade (GOLD), and the Technology Councils for Nanotechnology (NANO) and Sensors/MEM (SEN). Each Council is sponsored by more than 20 IEEE Societies. To learn more about SCV people and activities, go to the web site at: http://sites.ieee.org/scv/
