Editorial: Sources for new Technical Information

by @ 8:59 am. Filed under ALL, BioEngineering, Communications, Computers/Software, Electrical/Power, Electronics Design, Engineering Mgmt, NanoEngineering, Optics/Displays, Semiconductors

As I write this note, Iâ??m sitting in a hotel, looking out over San Diego bay, while attending an IEEE conference.? The miracles of modern technology â?? something to which most of you have been contributors.
Thereâ??s a lot of focus were on mobile technology â?? handsets, lower power dissipation, denser packaging, more functionality, higher-energy power sources, better modeling/CAD tools, etc.? Weâ??re trying to bring groupings of research results and topical papers into Special Sections in various of IEEEâ??s Transactions.? Your journals are a good place to look for new results thatâ??ll affect your own work.
Did you know that you can subscribe to a â??feed??? for each IEEE journal in which you have an interest?? This can be a big help â?? every time a new issue is posted to IEEEâ??s Xplore system, you get an email with a link to the Table of Contents.? You can quickly jump to the website, scan the titles, read key abstracts, and download the papers of interest.? Itâ??s the best way to see what your colleagues are doing in their labs and companies.? To select journals to monitor, visit:

ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/tocalerts_signup.jsp

You donâ??t need to be an IEEE member to get these alerts â?? theyâ??re open to everyone. You can also get RSS feeds for your journals of interest, right from IEEE Xplore.? Give it a try!
