PICNIC TIME! ? IEEE Family Day at the Ardenwood Historic Farm
– Sun, July 19, 2009 ? – Summer Picnic, in Fremont
– 10:00 AM-4:00 PM ? – $20/member, plus $10/guest
We normally meet other engineers in their professional capacity â?? working together on a project, discussing technical issues, rubbing elbows at local technical meetings.? Rarely do we get to see them in informal and family settings.
This year the SF Bay Area Council, coordinating for our three Sections, has set up an IEEE Summer Picnic at Ardenwood Historic Park, in Fremont.? It includes free parking, a highly subsidized BBQ lunch of tri-tip, checken and hot dogs, and fun activities like badminton, softball, volleyball and horseshoes â?? not to mention beer and wine (refreshing, on a hot day!)? If youâ??re bringing kids, thereâ??ll be a jump house, farm animals to pet, face painting, and much more.
Since networking is the key to finding a new job if you find yourself in the job search, hereâ??s a good place to discuss your skills with other members in your profession â?? you can tell by their Society affiliation on their name badges.? If youâ??re an IC designer, youâ??ll want to talk to members of CAS, Computer or Communications.? If materials and devices are your field, then look for LEOS (now Photonics), EDS, and CPMT.? Power?? Watch for PES, IAS, and PELS.? One of these informal contacts may result in placement of your paperwork in the hands of a hiring manager â?? your key objective.
Set aside Sunday, July 19, for some fun!? Limited to the first 300, so donâ??t delay.
