In the past 2 years, major changes have occurred in the economy that have effected IP monetization.? Also, changes in the legal landscape of patents have followed, with laws changing against patent holders, making it more difficult to protect and monetize a company’s IP.? After closely following these changes, and while planning and executing enforcement and licensing programs, we have developed Patents 3.0, a new approach to protecting and monetizing IP portfolios.
We will first take a survey of what the audience would like us to cover during the discussion.? We will then weave the answers to these questions into the talk.? That way, we cover everyone’s standing questions.? We will then discuss 1) why a company or individual might file patents, 2) which strategies best help certain business models, 3) which patents you enforce or hold for defensive purposes,? 4) approaches to foreign protection and 5) alternatives to patents, including Trademarks, Copyrights, and Trade Secrets.? Example Case Models of IP strategy will be included for better understanding.? And, we will have a long question/answer session for CES members with burning questions.
