This seminar will consist of a panel of seven CNSV members, each of whom will discuss what they have done to continue finding consulting work in recent times.? Each of the presenters are doing something a little different from the others, and they will explain what they tried, what didn’t work, and what is working now.? Some of the topics addressed in this seminar:
* Marketing in Silicon Valley, Southern California, and Europe
* What I have tried, what I will do again, what I will not
* Developing personal relationships
* Subcontracting work to other consultants
* Use of LinkedIn and other social media for marketing
* Business partnerships and virtual teams
* Marketing through associations
* My web site strategy
* How and why I use metrics to measure how ads in Craigslist perform for me
* How I use Google Analytics on my web site
* Marketing by Word of Mouth
* How Craigslist helped me in 2009 When Word of Mouth Stopped Working
* Participation in standards efforts as a mechanism to drive business
* Low-cost, high ROI methods to drive business, including blogging
* How to establish yourself as a subject matter expert in a new field
At the conclusion of all presentations, the panel will jointly expand upon each of the topics discussed, and then comment on the pre-work questions.? Following the panel discussion will be a half-hour Question & Answer period.
