WEDNESDAY September 14, 2011
Speakers: Carlo Alberto Nucci, Full Professor, Chair of Power Systems, University of Bologna; Mario Paolone, Associate Professor, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Smart Grids Laboratory, Lausanne; Daniel Kaminský, Director, Division of Virtual Instrumentation, ELCOM
Time: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Cost: none
Place: on the Web
RSVP: from the website

Although originally targeted at power transmission, phasor measurement unit (PMU) technology is evolving to handle dynamic grid conditions and moving into distribution networks to improve operational practices in both normal and emergency conditions. Learn about new technologies that give you powerful hardware and software building blocks. Hear from an experienced integrator of power analyzer systems about their top five field installation and deployment challenges and solutions.
The National Instruments Smart Grid Webcast Series for IEEE provides an inside perspective on the design, prototyping, and commercialization of field reconfigurable embedded systems for a variety of smart sensing and control applications. This year long series of webcasts explains how you can apply graphical system design techniques and National Instruments software and hardware tools to significantly accelerate the development of smart grid systems; from embedded smart grid analyzers and distribution fault anticipation systems, to synchrophasor measurement units, smart switches and reclosers, grid adaptive smart inverters, motor-generator control systems that enhance energy efficiency and component lifetimes, to real-time power simulations for hardware-in-the-loop testing of control systems.
