Since the first industrial robotic arm became operational in 1961 at General Motors, the International Federation of Robotics reports that the robot population has grown to 6.5 million. Of these, 5.5 million are unmanned vehicles and service robots, ranging from IED bomb disposal robots and unmanned construction equipment to autonomous vacuum cleaners and LEGO MINDSTORMS NXTs.
This webcast will explore this diverse landscape, focusing on unmanned vehicle applications in academia and industry. While unmanned vehicles serve vastly differing needs, they share certain architectures and components that are an amalgamation of numerous Mechatronic systems and subsystems.
Robots, in essence, perform three basic tasks: sensing, thinking and acting. Learn how cutting edge technologies are empowering engineers to design, prototype and deploy sophisticated robotic architectures and designs to perform these tasks without getting hindered by the complication of traditional low-level tools. Graphical system design platforms and embedded technologies enabling domain experts focus on the next level of engineering challenges and push the limits of innovation.
