Being involved in the IEEE also helps when you present a paper at an IEEE conference and get the attention of the professors in the audience.  I have gotten a scholarship offer that way.  People talk about the benefits of networking like it is some intangible thing, but I assure you that the benefits can be real and even lucrative.

Hello, ieeegoldnig. Great suggestion of selling the GOLD pin at the Sections Congress. Thank you for your ideas. We have prepared bags of goodies for the GOLD delegates and participants of the GOLD Summit to bring home.

Best Regards,

Suggested items include:
  • car stickers
    jotters
    pens
    face-caps
    T-shirts
    usb flash drives
    handkerchiefs
All items should have IEEE & GOLD logos

Apart from the giveaways, may I suggest that GOLD pins and other IEEE GOLD logo items be made available for purchase at the summit. It takes so long to get IEEE pins when ordered from HQ.

This is the first time I am getting to know about the selection of delegates for the GOLD Summit.
As the IEEE GOLD chair for Nigeria Section, I believe that such information should have been passed down long time ago.
In view of this this, may I suggest that more details of the GOLD submit be announced in this forum.
Thanks.

We have about 5 GOLD members that plan to attend from Nigeria. However, we do have constraints with the canadian embassy's slow pace of issueing visas.
It will be great if the organising team can send a strong letter to the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria with the list of the registered Nigerian delegates. This will be quite appropriate. I do hope that the GOLD chair will take this up immediately.
