The purpose of the Technology Development Committee is to promote concepts and practices of Reliability engineering principles with the intent of sharing non-competitive knowledge in an open exchange. The TDC in conjunction with the chapter provides this through meeting presentations, lecture series, symposia & technology workshops.

TDC Scope of Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Technology Development Committee is to plan, support & coordinate the Boston Reliability chapter’s technology activities outside of the regular monthly meeting series & annual chapter meeting.

This includes but is not limited to:

- Spring Lecture Series
- Symposia (local chapter, IEEE or local area technical conference support)
- Reliability Technology Summit

Lecture Series, Symposia & Reliability technology summits are events that would be held during the Active Chapter meeting months, September through May. These events are used for the purposes of raising professional awareness and of annual revenue for chapter activities.

These events should provide value to existing memberships and encourage new chapter membership. At least one of the above named events shall be planned annually.

Technology Development Workshops

Technology development workshops are a means to hold informal meetings, open to members and guests interested in open technology discussions, reliability process best practices or host guest speakers on specific reliability topics of interest. Technology Development Workshops are open to the public to participate or present on topics of interest to meeting members. TDW meetings are scheduled throughout the year generally include refreshments or food provided using funds from the chapter, IEEE section or corporate host donations.

Each of the event types identified above should consider focused topics that complement professional development in various Reliability Disciplines. This includes but is not limited to:

- Reliability Methodologies (best practices & lessons learned)
- Reliability Tools (prediction, modeling, 6-Sigma & quality)
- Reliability process & technology (hardware and software)
- Reliability assessment (product qualification & life test)
- Lead free Reliability (materials, finishes & technology)
- Parts management, COTS integration (assessment & qualification)

TDC planning meeting frequency is at the discretion of the TDC Chair & vice-chair. Quarterly or semi-annual TDC meetings are planned at a minimum.
