Summer Luncheon Cruise on Newport Bay

Description: The IEEE Providence Section invites members, friends, and families to a relaxing luncheon cruise on the waters of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay in the vessel, Majestic.  We board at Bowen's Wharf in Newport at 11 am and return at 1:45 pm.  A full luncheon buffet is provided along with a cash bar.  There will be a narrated tour of the harbor, as well as the opportunity to enjoy the scenery and visit with friends.

Price: Member and guest: $23 each. Gold Member and guest: $20 each. 

Student Member and guest: $15 each. 

Additional non-adult family members (ages 4-12): $15 each.

Non-member: $33. Under 4: free.

Attendance is limited to 25, early reservation is recommended!

Please respond early (no later than June 15) and provide your name, membership status (Member, GOLD Member or Student Member), number of attendees, email address, and phone number. Payment required by June 29 (details will be sent with confirmation of registration).

Directions: A link to a Newport parking map is provided on our web site: www.ieee.org/providence . Parking for this event is “on your own.” Please note that there is no parking at Bowen’s Wharf. We recommend parking at the Gateway Visitor's Center.

From Northern RI

Take Route 95 South. At the split of 95 South, about 10 miles south of Providence, Rhode Island, the two left lanes lead toward Route 4 South (North Kingstown, East Greenwich) at exit 9. Route 4 South merges into Route 1 South after the second traffic light. From Route 1 South take the exit for the Jamestown/Newport Bridges which leads to Route 138 East. The Jamestown Bridge leads to the Newport Bridge ($2.00 toll). Take the first exit off the Newport Bridge (Scenic Newport) and take a right at the end of the exit ramp onto Farewell Street. At the second traffic light take a right onto America's Cup Avenue. The Visitor’s Center parking is about a quarter mile on the right. Bowen’s Wharf is about another quarter mile on America’s Cup Ave, on the right.

From Points North
Take Interstate 93 South out of Boston to Route 24 South. Around Fall River, MA follow Route 24 South (Fall River/Newport signs) to Route 114 South. This four-lane road is called West Main Road through the towns of Portsmouth and Middletown and once in Newport becomes a two-lane road called Broadway. Once on Broadway, the Newport Hospital is on the left, followed by the Police Station on the right. At Newport City Hall, the next landmark on the left, take a right onto Marlborough Street (follow the sign for The Visitor Center) and continue to the traffic light. Go straight through the intersection to park at the Visitor’s Center.
