About the Event:
The Town of Portsmouth
cut the ribbon on its wind turbine generator in March 2009 and has since been
generating electricity. This 1.5 mW turbine, the largest in Rhode Island, has already
generated more than 1,000,000 kWh and is expected to save 4 million dollars in
energy over the next 20 years. Here is
an opportunity to gain knowledge about its technical features and economics.
About our Presenter:
Gary Gump is the Portsmouth Economic Development Committee
(PEDC) Sustainable Energy subcommittee chair and has been intimately involved
with the planning for this project. Gary
also serves as the vice-chair of the PEDC and is a member of the town’s
Redevelopment Agency. He is retired and
has worked in both the electric utility and electrical equipment industry.
