Research at RIT in PDAs and Multicast Technology

Dr. Heliotis discussed some topics of general interest to the computer professionals working on consumer communication products: reliable IP multicast, Sun's latest JAVA Virtual Machine implementation for handheld devices, and applications of these technologies. Reliable IP multicast is a vehicle that enables scalable distribution of information on TCP/IP networks. "Spotless" is Sun's latest JAVA Virtual Machine targeted for handheld devices such as: cell phones, personal organizers, and pagers.
