Abstract: Services Today Toyota Motors is the world’s largest maker of automobiles. For
long, it has been recognized as a leader in quality and reliability of its products, and its
innovative business and management processes. Toyota’s formidable brand reputation is
built on many key and unique technical ideas and systems, and business & management
processes, invented and perfected by it. This talk will present an overview of its much
admired Toyota Production System (TPS), Just-in-Time (JIT) Supply Chain, and its unique
cultural & management concepts like Kaizen (“continuous improvement”), and
collaborative partnerships with its business associates. Selected examples will highlight
the above issues. |
Speaker Biography: Dr Prasad has over 25 years of experience of development, design and consultancy in industry, and research & teaching in the academia.
Previously he has worked at Feedback Business Services Consulting, Unisys Global
Services India, Satyam Computer Services, Bangalore, Hyperion Solutions, Sunnyvale,
California, IBM Global Services, Bangalore, Nanyang Technological University,
Singapore, ISRO Satellite Centre, Bangalore and National Informatics Centre, New
Delhi. He has worked on several projects covering Open Source DBMS Internals, Data
Warehouse Integration, OLAP Server Performance Engineering, Data Analysis,
Decision Support & Multidimensional Analytics Systems in Business and
Manufacturing, and Relational and Object Database Management Systems. He has
also conducted training programmes in Statistical Techniques in Software Quality,
Data Warehousing & Mining, Ada Programming and Database System Concepts. His
current professional interests are in Formal Techniques in Software Engineering,
Techniques in Data Analysis & Mining, and Decision Support & Optimization.
