About 5G Summit
Since the inception of mobile networks and associated technologies there had been a great demand from the users to avail a high data rate supported with good QoS. Accordingly there had been phenomenal evolution of mobile technologies starting from Analog towards full Digital through successive generations. With the enormous success of 4G, the researchers, Industry leaders, Innovators and Service Providers are all working to achieve greater throughput with much lower latency to support real time mobile control and device to device (D2D) communication including Internet of Things (IoT) through 5G mobile technology. Big data, Cyber Security and Millimetre wave technology are also being given due emphasis. The 5G mobile networks would be the key enabling technology to achieve more data rate and higher bandwidth to support new services and businesses by 2020. However, rigorous attempts are being taken to standardize the 5G technology throughout the globe. IEEE 5G summit is now providing a platform for the people in the above community to collaborate and exchange ideas belonging to emerging 5G technology to develop the standards followed by rapid deployment. Several 5G summits have been organized throughout the globe including IIT Patna and IETE, New Delhi in 2016 to achieve the goals.
It is our proud privileged to announce that the City of Joy, Kolkata, has been selected as the next venue of the 5G summit in India. In the Indian context several digital technologies have been emerged to support better communication directed towards new business opportunities with the help of 5G technology. It is expected that the active participation from the academic community, Industry leaders, Central and State Govt. Officials, Policy Makers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Service Providers would make the summit very effective if India-specific use-cases immerges from the summit for inclusion in 5G standardization and development.
