It was indeed a memorable occasion for IEEE Kolkata Section to have IEEE President-Elect2012 Dr. Peter Staecker in Kolkata. On 1^st March 2012, IEEE Kolkata Section in collaboration with it AP-MTT Chapter organized an interactive session with Dr. Peter Staecker in which large number of IEEE members, teachers and students participated. The interactive session was held in the K.P.Basu Memorial Hall in Jadavpur University campus.

Prof. Sivaji Chakravorti, Chairman, IEEE Kolkata Section, welcomed Dr. Staecker on behalf of IEEE fraternity in the eastern part of India. Dr. Peter Staecker in his presentation outlined the roadmap of IEEE in the years to come. In the question-answers session participants put forward questions to Dr. Staecker on issues specific to India and also those related to the global issues. Mr. Harish Mysore, Director of IEEE India Office, who accompanied Dr. Peter Staecker, also answered several question of the participants on the relevance of IEEE in Indian context. In the end Prof. Debatosh Guha, Vice-Chair of IEEE Kolkata Section and founder Chair AP-MTT Chapter, proposed the vote of thanks.

In the evening, a dinner was hosted by IEEE Kolkata Section in the honour of Dr. Staecker. In his dinner speech, Dr. Staecker appreciated the enthusiasm of IEEE volunteers in Kolkata and expressed his hope that IEEE Kolkata section will serve IEEE and technical fraternity with distinction in future, as it is doing now. He also expressed his thanks to IEEE Kolkata section for extending help and support to make his visit to Kolkata a success.
