IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Chengdu Chapter was inaugurated on 25 May, 2010 at College of Computer Science and College of Software Engineering, Sichuan University. Professor Gary G. Yen, president of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, and other guests and CIS Chengdu Chapter members attended this event.

The inauguration was presided by Professor Lei Zhang, Secretary-general of CIS Chengdu Chapter. Professor Yi Zhang, Chair of CIS Chengdu Chapter, first made a speech on the background of IEEE CIS Chengdu Chapter, as well as the meaning of the establishment of the CIS Chengdu Chapter and its future development directions. Dr. Xinhao Xu，Executive Secretary/Treasurer of IEEE Chengdu Section, delivered a speech of congratulations for the foundation of IEEE CIS Chengdu Chapter on behalf of Chair and Chair-elect of IEEE CDS Prof. Pingzhi Fan and Professor Houjun Wang. In his speech, Dr. Xu introduced the growth of IEEE Chengdu Section and conveyed his good wishes to CIS Chengdu Chapter. President 10/11 of the IEEE CIS, Professor Gary G. Yen from Oklahoma State University of America, delivered a greeting message for the establishment of IEEE CIS Chengdu Chapter. Professor Yen briefed the audience on the growth and achievement of IEEE CIS all over the world and expressed his expectations on IEEE CIS Chengdu Chapter.

The inauguration ceremony was concluded with the unveiling of the CIS Chengdu Chapter plaque. Professor Gary G. Yen and Professor Yi Zhang unveiled the plaque together.

Established in March, 2010, IEEE CIS Chengdu Chapter now is composed of 18 members with professor Yi Zhang and professor Tianrui Li as its chair and vice chair respectively.
