XXI Annual Convention and Exhibition - ACE'95 organized by IEEE India Council and its Delhi and UP Sections was held at Hotel Hyatt Regency, New Delhi on March 26 and 27, 1996. With the key-note address delivered by Mr. S.G.Awasthi, Managing Director, DCM Daewoo Motors Ltd., the Convention was attended by 72 Professionals hailing from academic and research institutions, industries as well as Government Departments. In all 24 papers were presented in 7 technical sessions spread over a period of two days. With the theme of ACE'95 as 'Electronics in Manufacturing Systems', topics ranging from simulation and modeling to applications of electronics technology, robotics, automation to manufacturing, as well as on emerging technologies were covered by the speakers.

The Convention ended with a panel discussion where the emphasis was given to evolving of appropriate technology in the areas, like, CAD, CAM, CIM, etc. through indigenous R & D effort and / or suitably adopting imported technology in the wake of liberalized economy. It was also expressed that potential and status of electronics industry should be duly recognized and benefit of technology should reach even rural population. Need for saving energy, making R & D sector lucrative to attract proper personnel by giving due importance to market force, creation of and easy access to basic facilities at ground level, fullest exploitation in the IT area, curriculum development considering rapid changes in the field of electronics technology and its applications were the other issues that were stressed.

Though due to lack of response Exhibition part of ACE'95 was canceled at the last moment, the event was marked by a special talk with video presentation on 3-dimensional interactive accelerator by Dr. Jai P. Menon of IBM T.J.Watson Research Center, New York and presentation of all the four papers that won prizes in student paper contest conducted by IEEE India Council.

Besides these, at the inaugural session IEEE Fellowship was conferred on Dr. V.R.Singh of Delhi section. On the first day of Convention, India Council had its Executive Committee Meeting and Annual General Meeting too in the afternoon and evening respectively.
