A REPORT ON IEEE WORKSHOP ON "RECENT ADVANCES AND TRENDS IN POWER ELECTRONICS AND DRIVES" HELD ON SEPTEMBER 19 & 20, 1999 VIS-A-VIS IEEE DISTINGUISHED LECTURER PROF. BIMAL K. BOSE'S VISIT TO DELHI FROM SEPTEMBER 18 TO 21, 1999


Prof. Bimal K. Bose, IEEE Distinguished Lecturer from University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee, USA upon his arrival on a seven-day visit to India landed in Delhi on September 18, 1999. IEEE PES-IAS Delhi Chapter took advantage of his presence to have a workshop on "Recent Advances and Trends in Power Electronics and Drives" on September 19 and 20, 1999 which was jointly organized with IEEE Delhi Section and the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi. The two-day workshop held at IIT Delhi was attended by 45 registered participants and few others (i.e., Research Scholars and Faculty Members) and the following topics were covered:

Beside the workshop, in the evening of September 20, 1999 there was the third Edison Memorial Lecture on 'Artificial Intelligence Techniques in Power Electronics and Drives'. This was attended by a large audience comprising of engineers from the concerned industries and from academic field.

On September 21, 1999 he left for Hyderabad in the morning.
