Chairman’s Message

Dear Fellow Professionals, Students,

IEEE elections are round the corner. In about two months, you will be receiving your ballot from IEEE Head Office in US.

Having been to two international meetings outside India, I was astonished to see that, though India is the second largest country in terms of IEEE membership, there is very little awareness of activities in India, in the IEEE circles. This clearly points to our low participation in global forums. IEEE being a democratic setup, this means that all of us have to exercise our franchise and highlight our position on various issues. I urge all of you to cast your votes in the coming election and make your voice heard.

The first step in the process to correct your postal and email address so as to receive your ballots. I request you to take some time to update your profile and contact information at http://ieee.org and correct them if necessary. It is important that you correct your contact addresses before June 30th, as the ballots will be posted and e-mailed to the address in the IEEE database as on 1st July 2008.

This time the students who have graduated this year are eligible to vote. It is most likely that they would have found jobs and moved to a new address. Hence please pass this message to any of them that you know off. Also inform your member friends who could not access this message.

See the step-by-step procedure for updating your address

Thanks and Best Wishes,
