Barnabas Muthu (IEEE Member 90273330)

Barnabas Muthu, an Electrical Engineer by Education and a Software Engineer by Profession is one of the Vibrant and Active IEEE Volunteers from Madras Section. He is currently one of the Executive Committee Members of IEEE GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) and is responsible for spearheading the Developer Community Initiative in Madras Section. He graduated from Velammal Engineering College (affliated to Anna University) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and is currently employed at Wipro Technologies as a Software Engineer in Legacy IBM AS400 Systems. In his current role, he is responsible for the design and development of various modules in a Billing Application for a logistics Client. To his credit he has successfully implemented few complex modules in the application. Additionally, he is also the Incharge and Design-Layout Editor of his Account Newsletter.

As a volunteer, he had been very much active in IEEE since his University days. He had been the Chairman of his Student Branch where he has done many acivities and had initiated a periodic Newsletter for the benefit of the Student Members of his Branch. To his credit, he has published articles in Madras Section Newsletter and has presented his paper on Bio-Diesel at various IEEE Conferences and Symposiums across the country. He represented Madras Section in the Region 10 Student Congress 2008 which happened in Chennai and the Region 10 Student Congress 2009 which happened at Singapore. He was the part of the group which initiated the Region 10 Global Integrated Network of IEEE, a Region 10 SAC Initiative to Network the Student Branches in all Sections across Region 10. He was the Vice Chair of the GINI Executive Committee of Madras Section in 2008. He was instrumental in forming a hub structure by splitting the entire geography of Madras Section. He also drafted a constitution for Madras Section GINI to solidify and structurize the working pattern of GINI in Madras Section. He is currently mentoring the Volunteers who have succeeded him in this venture and is currently working closely with the GINI India Team.

As a GOLD (Graduates of Last Decade), he had been very much active in triggering discussions with various young professional on new initiatives which would add value to members of IEEE. He is currently working on the IEEE GOLD - Drupal Developer Community Initiative and plans to extend similar initiatives with other developer communities as well. He has also organized few Webinars for the benefit of GOLD and Student Members in Madras Section. He also represented Madras Section GOLD in the PAN India GOLD Meet which was organized for the GOLD Volunteers from India.

Barnabas is an MBA Aspirant and wishes to pursue his Masters in Business Management in a Top Rated Global B-School. In future he plans to manage business and technology which would benefit the humanity.

His other interests include music, blogging and Web Development. He has built few websites for Non-Profit Organizations and Churches.
