IEEE South Australia

Welcome

Welcome to the IEEE South Australia (SA) Section website. IEEE is a world-wide professional, technical and standardisation organisation covering the broad field of electrical and electronic engineering. The SA Section represents all IEEE members within the state of South Australia, which normally is between 400 and 500 members.

The Section is overseen by an Executive and Section Committee, and comprises specialist Chapters with in the areas of: Communications and Signal Processing; Computing; Control, Aerospace and Electronic Systems; Information Theory; Antennas and Propagation and Microwave Theory and Techniques; and Power and Energy. The Section also has three Affinity Groups - Young Professionals (YP), Women-in-Engineering (WIE), and Life Members Affinity Group (LMAG), as well as Student Branches at each of the three universities in South Australia.

We encourage you to peruse this site using the menu on the left. You can find out what activities are being held within SA, the awards and other benefits available to members, and the people involved in the Section.

2018 Outstanding Section Membership Retention Performance

The IEEE South Australia Section has been recognised for meeting its retention goal for the 2018 membership year. The membership development goals were developed based on the Section's three year performance. The Section Committee is working hard to provide the best member experience possible and to grow IEEE membership in the South Australia Section.

IEEE ICIT 2019 - 13-15 February, Melbourne

The IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology is one of the flagship conferences of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. This prestigious event is held every year in a different part of the world. The aim of this conference is to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of emerging industrial technologies and for professional interactions. Additionally, it serves as a conduit for channelling advanced technology to the regional industry.

IEEE TALE 2018 - 04-07 December, Wollongong

TALE is the IEEE Education Society's flagship Asia-Pacific (Region 10) conference, catering to researchers and practitioners with an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education - with a particular emphasis on electrical and electronic engineering, telecommunications, computer engineering, computer science and allied disciplines - as well as those interested in the innovative use of digital technologies for learning, teaching and assessment in any discipline. The target audience of the conference is diverse and includes those working in the higher education, vocational education and training (VET), K-12, corporate, government, military, and healthcare sectors.

IEEE TENCON 2018 - 28-31 October, Korea

IEEE TENCON is a premier international technical conference of IEEE Region 10, which comprises 58 Sections, 6 councils, 29 subsections, 663 chapters, and 1,431 student branches in the Asia Pacific region. IEEE TENCON 2018 is going to be held at Jeju, the island of breeze, Korea. The theme for TENCON 2018 is intelligence outbreak; researchers and engineers will be brought together from academia and industry, and they will freely expose their ideas and opinions on emerging issues in the field of electrical, electronics and computer engineering as well as information technologies.

RADAR 2018 - 27-30 August, Brisbane

The International Conference on Radar 2018 (Radar 2018) Organising Committee invites the submission of papers for original work for consideration as an oral or poster presentation in the Radar 2018 Program. The papers should pertain to original research or reports and oral or poster presentations are welcome.

IEEE TENSYMP 2018 - 4-6 July, Sydney

IEEE TENSYMP is the spring symposium of IEEE Region 10. It aims to serve as the cross road for researchers, industry personnel and the Government for scientific and technological progress. It is being organised by the IEEE Region 10 and the IEEE New South Wales Section, Australia. TENSYMP 2018 will feature high quality tutorials, workshops and plenary sessions. It will also feature keynotes from prominent research and industry leaders. The symposium will be held from 4th to 6th July, 2018 in the city of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Workshop on Radar System Prototyping and Electronic Warfare - 14-16 November 2017

The IEEE SA CAES Chapter is proud to host IEEE Distinguished Lecturer - Dr Lorenzo Lo Monte for a three day workshop on Radar System Prototyping and Electronic Warfare. This three day tutorial workshop comprises a day on radar Systems Prototyping, and two days of Electronic Warfare. This includes an introduction day covering the electronic attack (EA), electronic support (ES) and electronic protection (EP) and a second day focusing further on electronics support, ELINT and radar reverse engineering. Participants can register for any combination of days as desired. Please see second page for a full description. Note that the course is taught at an unclassified level.

The workshop will be held from the 14th to 16th November 2017 at the University of Adelaide.

ANZSCON 2017 - IEEE Australia & New Zealand Student & Young Professional Congress Travel Grant

IEEE South Australia Section are opening the invitation to all IEEE student/women in engineering/ young professional members from South Australia for financial support applications for the ANZSCON 2017 - IEEE Australia & New Zealand Student & Young Professionals Congress. This will be held from 10th – 11th of August 2017 in Sydney, Australia. Chosen candidates will be provided with up to approx. AUD 600 to be used exclusively for travel, registration and accommodation costs. It is expected that this amount will cover the full funding required. However, the students are encouraged to seek other sources of funding to participate IEEE Sections Congress which would be held from 11th - 13th August in Sydney, Australia. Other funding sources may include University, fundraising or personal funding.

2017 Unsung Hero Awards of South Australian Science

These awards aim to recognise those who have not yet received significant recognition for their contribution to science or science communication.

There are 2 awards: the Unsung Hero of South Australian Science and the Unsung Hero of South Australian Science Communication.
