As volunteers in the IEEE, the contributors to this website have made a
conscious decision to become involved in their community. Professional
associations are one way to do this.
Ways you can get involved in your community include:
• Give time to a charity
• Get involved in your children’s school or sports club
• Mentor students or people early in their career
• Give a seminar on your work, or other passions (contact us if you’re wanting help on this)
• Take part in tree planting and clean-up days
• Sponsor a child or donate to a cause (e.g. Greenpeace)
• Be crazy for a cause – follow Patch Adams’ lead
