Date: January 11, 1999 Time: 6:30pm - 7:45pm

Prepared By: Carole C. Carey, Section Secretary

Presiding Officer: Chair, Baltimore Section, Bill Dixon

[Report from last meeting was not received]

- Chapters are responsible for submitting the Meeting Reports to Randy and the Treasurer's Report to Carole. Treasurer's Reports are due in February. Carole handed out copies of the various topic categories as a guide when preparing reports (i.e., Chart of Accounts, attached).

Report from Directors

Student Activities - Neville Jacobs

Volunteers needed! [see attached Summary Report]
- A motion was made and approved on Neville's request for $400 ($223.44 reimbursement of past expenses and $176.56 of future expenses).
- Two checks that were previously mailed to Kelvin Electronics had to be reissued "lost." This raises the issue in the future whether we should mail them certified. It costs money to cancel a check. Bill suggested that perhaps checks > $400 or so should be certified. The downside - it would take longer for vendors to receive payments requiring an extra trip to the post office, cost more to mail, time consuming and a burdensome to the volunteer treasurer. It was noted that this is the only case of many checks mailed in the regular manner where it was reported 'not received.'
