Report and Approval of Minutes
December 13, 1999
meeting minutes approved without changes.
- Randy welcomed the EXCOM members to the new millenium. He provided PES invitations to the 2000 Engineer’s Week Dinner, which is free to IEEE members.
- There was a discussion on PES’ request for a $1395.95 rebate to cover ½ of the 1999 Engineer’s Week Dinner. In line with past section/PES agreements (Chris Nemarich), section will pay only for ½ the cost of Student guest dinners. The secretary will ask PES for an accounting and the section portion will be paid after the Y2K IEEE rebate is received.
- Randy requested $745.46 reimbursement for his R2 Congress expenses and provided receipts. Pre-approved last year, paid with Check #5163.
- Suggested reversing order of report presentations, with Chapter Reports first, then other EXCOM members. Motion was approved.
- Chapter Reports
- Mark Brown attended the meeting as the 2000 AES Chapter Chair. The chapter report was e-mailed to Vil and will be enclosed to the meeting report.
- Fred Kirby announced an 18 Jan 2000 EMC meeting with John Casemente from FDA presenting a paper on "Medical Device Interactions with Anti-Theft and Security Systems."
- Boris Gramatikov is the new EMB-18 2000 Chair, replacing Glen Bell
- Carole provided a hard and soft copy of the 1998 financial report to the outgoing treasurer.
- Vil provided a report showing the total expenditures, including accruals for 1999. Accruals were commitments made in 1999, but not executed until 2000, which is a new IEEE reporting requirement. A new spreadsheet with corrected links will be included in the minutes.
- So far, six entities have submitted 1999 reports.
- We also received $3250 from R2: $2700 for the Robot Project and $550 for newsletter PACE articles.
- Chris Nemarich requested the purchase of 3 PCs and a printer to support IMTC2000 at a cost of $2830. Approved with Randy abstaining.
- Neville reports the need for two alternate competition dates (April 9 and possibly May 6) as the current date (April 22) conflicts with Easter 2000. 91 Teams expected to compete this year.
- Dave Stevens is still waiting for inputs from the Chapters. Discussions centered about the next WATTs New to the last full feature issue. Future newsletters will be limited to 2-4 pages, with links to Web published articles. Cost of Web ads to be investigated.
- Tom Patton requested updates from members for the Chapter Chair’s Dinner guest list.
- Bill Dixon reported reciving his reimbursement for the last PACE meeting. He needs a new GOLD representative.
Next Meeting
