No minutes available from last month's meeting.
Section Chair (Jeffrey Friedhoffer):
- We would like to start reviewing budgetary submissions on a monthly basis to keep better track.
- We have been paying HEM $500 per year for the use of the facility for meetings and events.
- The news letter budget is currently running around $1000 for copying and mailing. We are looking for ways to reduce the cost, possibly reducing the number of mailings per year.
- The budget line items will be set for lower numbers for 2005 and if the item exceeds the budget it will come before the executive committee for approval.
- Spending so far for 2004 is $28545.97.

2005 ROBOT CHALLENGE SCHOOLS Summary of situation as of 12/13/04: As a result of some early registrations and the TECH-EXPO that was held at the Baltimore Museum of Industry on October 15, 2004, we have: Total number of teams: 53, number of schools: 11 number of manual kits: 44, and 9 automation kits. Mentors are reporting a fairly good response. We are hoping to improve on the usual 30% drop that occurs each year.IEEE received a Gold Plus Sponsor Award plaque in recognition of their support of the Challenges program (the plaque Jeff and will be hung in the HEM). We plan to insert a small add in the program in 2005 and requested a check made out to the Baltimore Museum of Industry for $75.
We are still pursuing schools that have approached us with inquiries and some schools that participated last year but have not signed up yet.
