Joint WISA/IEEE Meeting

Program: Advances in Industrial Ethernet
Speaker: Alex Kasacavage, Rockwell Automation, Solution Architect

Industrial use of Ethernet began before prior to 2000. It began by stringing several industrial controllers together. In about 2004, we started taking data and using it for control. From then on, people wanted only more and more data from which to form control decisions. By about 2006, data was flowing anywhere in the system. By 2009, the system was fully wired from the basic devices up to the corporate offices.
