Minutes of IEEE/LVS/SSCS/Executive Committee Planning Meeting 3Feb2015 - 6:30 PM at Kutztown Tavern, Kutztown, PA 19530 In Attendance: Robert Peruzzi, Roger Minear, Paul Davis, Dale Nelson, Betty Nelson, Robert Walden, Richard Booth, and Glen Offord Minutes: The minutes of the previous meeting (22Jul2014) were reviewed and approved. Treasurer?s Report: Roger presented 2014 expenditures of $1473. The SSCS 2014 allocation to the Lehigh Valley Section for the LV-SSCS was $2000. The LV-SSCS currently has $2393 in its account which is being held by the LV-IEEE section treasurer, George Beam. Following the report, some discussion followed on moving the LV-SSCS money from LV-IEEE control to our treasurer?s direct access. Election: In the first order of business, the 2015 unopposed officer slate was approved: Chair: Betty Nelson Vice Chair: Bob Peruzzi Treasurer: Dale Nelson Secretary: Glen Offord Webmaster: Richard Booth The officer slate will be considered elected if no objections are received on or before the end of our first 2015 section meeting tentatively scheduled the end of March or early April. We welcome SSCS members to our planning meetings and advocate new officer talent. Technical Talks: ? Doug Lopata was contacted by Peruzzi. He was too busy to commit at this time. ? possible future; Dale contacted Pete Bronner who is seeking talk approval. ? open ? ?Distinguished Lecturer Triple-Header Road Show? held on 15Oct2014 was well received. Approximately 30 people attended. The speakers and topics were: o Jacob Baker Delta-sigma converters o Payam Heydari RF design o Frank O?Mahony High speed, Low Power Data Links ? On 27Aug2014 T. R. Viswanathan presented a talk on High Speed Analog Blocks. ? It was noted the LV-SSCS held 7 lectures last year ? most with Distinguished Lecturers. ? Bob Leonowich ? possible talk on disk drives ? Betty to contact. - open ? Paul Davis will present a review of the ISSCC. This is tentatively scheduled for the end of March or early April. Morton Contest: It was agreed to continue our subsidization of the Morton Contest in the amount of $500. We discussed and left open how to tie our gift into better promoting SSCS values. Don Talhelm Acknowledgement: It was unanimous that we present our Lehigh University contact, Emeritus Don Talhelm, with a plaque of appreciation. Bob Peruzzi will obtain the plaque and the group will approve the inscription. Glen has agreed to do a draft. - open Electronics/Manufacturing History Museum: Robert Walden inquired about our involvement in the History Museum. We had decided not to actively support the museum due to management irregularities. The museum is now under new management and may warrant a further look. Glen agreed to try to contact George Allerton or Chuck Adomshick to ascertain if our help is needed and/or warranted. - open Special thanks to Bob Peruzzi for chairing our group through a successful year.
