Dr. Timothy F. Settle has been an IEEE member since 1982. He is a senior IEEE member and has served as the chair of the Northern Virginia chapter of the Signal Processing Society from 2004 to 2008, and as the Northern Virginia Section treasurer in 2009, Vice Chair in 2010, and Chair in 2011.
Tim's professional career spans product development and advanced research. His early career entailed hardware and software development for automotive electronics and consumer products. However after completing his master's degree, he focused on research and advanced development. His research interests includes wireless communications, advanced signal processing, image processing, networking, and advanced sensor systems. Before coming to northern Virginia Dr. Settle conducted 12 years of research and advanced development in consumer electronics, and over the past 7 years, Dr. Settle has performed advanced research and development for military, and intelligence systems.
He holds seven patents in communications and networking technology and he has authored several technical papers.
Dr. Settle received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1998 and 1991 respectively. He received his B.S. degree from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in electrical engineering technology in 1982.
