ABSTRACT

The development of the automated DNA sequencer led to our ability to sequence the genomes of entire organisms. The need to analyze such large amounts of data gave birth to the field of genomics at the confluence between genetics and information sciences. This presentation will focus on how computer science and technology are an integral component of the current genomic revolution, and will highlight the role of bioinformatics at The Institute for Genomic Research.
