Welcome to the Central Georgia section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.


August meeting
The August meeting will be a presentation on lightning protection. The meeting will be on Tuesday, the 30th of August, 6:30 PM at the Georgia Power meeting room, 960 Key Street, Macon GA. The presentation will be by Spencer Hilburn IV, A Z Lightning Protection Systems, Inc. of Atlanta. The presentation will be last an hour with about 30 minutes to discuss the Prevectron and 30 minutes to discuss the NFPA 780 and UL master label changes of 2010. Changes to UL 1449 will be presented. Prevectrons are installed at in middle Georgia facilities for lightning protection.

October meeting
The fall picnic will be on Saturday, the 15th October at 11 AM at the Robins Museum of Aviation. The Central Georgia section will host the other Georgia sections (Atlanta and Savannah) for a catered picnic. The museum of aviation is located adjacent to Robins AFB on Highway 247.

November/December meeting
We will have a November/December visit with Brian Fuller, EE Times editor for the Drive for Innovation project. Mr Fuller is driving a Chevy Volt around the country for nine months and will be in Georgia in November or December. Mr Fuller will allow us to drive the Volt and talk about innovation and the electronics/electrical engineering profession. We will have more details as Mr Fuller drives closer to us.
