Below are the nominees for
Section officers for 2012. Please review their biographies and then complete the ballot at the bottom of the page. The ExCom has appointed Joe Finucane to complete the second year of William Milam's Director position, since he is running for Secretary/Treasurer for 2012.
You must have a
membership grade of Graduate Student, Member, Senior
Member, Fellow, or Life to vote in this election. Student Members, Associate Members,
and Affiliate Members should not vote. Thank you for showing your support for the East Tennessee Section.
Carl Mallette
Education: B.A.S. in Electronics Engineering Technology, Troy State University, B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mississippi State University, M.B.A. in Aviation, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, M.S. in Electrical Engineering and M.S. in Education from the University of Tennessee.
Carl worked for the United States Air Force for 21 years as a technician aligning and repairing electronic countermeasures systems and designing and flight testing missile seekers and surveillance radar systems. Carl is an Associate Professor in Engineering and Media Technologies at Pellissippi State Technical Community College (PSTCC). He is also the IEEE PSTCC Student Branch Advisor and he served as a Section Vice Chair in 2010, 2011 and Director in 2009.
N. Dianne Bull
Education: BS in Electrical Engineering, MS in Electrical Engineering at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Actively pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineer.
Dianne is an R&D Engineer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the Microelectronic System Research Group. After finishing her Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering, she started a Post-Master’s position under Dr. Charles Britton, ORNL. She was hired as an R&D Engineer in the summer of 2010. Her research experience includes Hybrid electric vehicle technology, Nanotechnology, Biomedical Electronics and Sensors, and Nuclear Instrumentation. She has been an active member of IEEE since 2005 at both the college and professional level including IEEE MTTS committee member, IEEE MWSCAS volunteer coordinator, Southeast Con Robotics Graduate Mentor, and Vice Chairman of University of Tennessee Student Chapter.
William Milam
Education: BSEE, MSEE Clemson University.
William is a Senior Member of IEEE and has been a member for over 30 years and has a Tennessee PE license. William has worked for both large companies such as Honeywell Space Systems and Philips Consumer Electronics, as well as small startup companies including ASIC International. He has over 25 years of electronics engineering experience involving all areas of product development from the concept state through field-testing and production ramp-up. Currently, he is VP of Engineering at SensorMed, Inc. a medical device startup where he is leading the development of several products. William served as Section Director in 2011.
An Yu
Education: MS in Physics from Indiana University and an
MSECE from Georgia Tech. An has over sixteen years of experience in the nuclear
instrumentation industry. He has worked for his current
employer, Canberra Industries, as a Principal Engineer
and is now a Core Technology Manager, responsible for
the testing and qualification of radiation detectors and
the evaluation of new detector technologies. An served as IEEE East Tennessee Section Secretary/Treasurer 2008,2009 and Director in 2010,2011.
