Sections Congress 2008
Sections Congress was held in Quebec City, Canada Sept. 18-22, 2008. Sections Congress is the triennial gathering of IEEE local section leadership from around the world. There were delegates from about 300 of the 324 sections; over 1000 representatives from 83 countries attended!
Sections Congress is a forum where the Section Chairs speak as the collective voice of IEEE membership, expressing ideas about how IEEE can better serve its members, both now and going forward. The issues generated at Sections Congress have a major impact on the plans made by IEEE Leadership for the future of IEEE.

Engineers and Scientists Sought for K-12 STEM
The Knoxville Chamber, Knox County Schools, and the Knoxville chapter of the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers have started a website called Vols4STEM to act as a clearinghouse to link science and engineering professionals with students and educators. The Knoxville Chamber has requested that local technical society members show their interest in K-12 STEM outreach activities by completing their survey. If you complete the survey please enter IEEE in box 1. You can read more about the clearinghouse project in this Knoxville News Sentinel article.
This effort has prompted the IEEE East Tennessee Section to consider what programs we could offer for the Knox County Schools. If you would be interested in helping with this effort, please complete this questionnaire.
