Recent Developments of the Plasma Antenna

East Tennessee Section Life Fellow and Director, Dr. Igor Alexeff, gave a talk titled Recent Developments of the Plasma Antenna. The plasma antenna uses plasmas for current carrying conductors in place of traditional metals. Plasmas can be made to switch on and off quickly and they have the ability to pass some frequencies while reflecting others. Dr. Alexeff's antenna is featured in the February, 2008 issue of Scientific American and the March, 2008 issue of CQ Amateur Radio. Dr.  Alexef is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Below are pictures from the meeting.  The first one is of Dr. Alexeff and the section Chair, Terry Kurtz. Students from UT, Pellissipi State, and ETSU were in abundance.
