East Tennessee Section Election of Officers for 2008 The East Tennessee Section of the IEEE has two offices that up for election for the 2008 calendar year. Positions for Vice Chair and Secretary Treasurer need to be filled. A candidate for each position has volunteered to serve. If additional candidates would like to run for office or if someone would like to nominate a candidate, a provision for a write-in has been made on the ballet. Please submit your vote no later than Dec. 21, 2007
Note: You must have a membership grade of Graduate Student, Member, Senior Member, Fellow, or Life to vote in this election. Student Members, Associate Members, and Affiliate Members should not vote.

Retired from Intergraph in 1993 as an Executive Technical Manager.
Vice Chair Martin Bauer
IEEE Membership: M'91 IEEE Volunteer History: • Oak Ridge Section Secretary/ Treasurer 1995-1998, 2001 Education: BS in Physics, MS in Measurement and Control Theory Carnegie Mellon University. Martin has over 30 years experience in electronics, instrumentation and systems design. He began his career at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), ending his work there after 20 years as a Research Group Leader in sensor and systems development within the Instrumentation and Controls Division. After ORNL, Martin served as the Advanced Development Manager at IPIX Corporation, an immersive imaging company. Martin then joined ASIC International as a Senior Engineer doing mixed-signal integrated circuit design, followed by a move to Healthspex, an analytical instrument aimed at the medical and research DNA analysis market. He is currently the Vice President for research and development at Aldis Inc., a start-up in the traffic management business.

IEEE Membership: M'96 Education: MS in Physics from Indiana University and an MSECE from Georgia Tech. An has over twelve years of experience in the nuclear instrumentation industry. He worked for his current employer, Canberra Industries, as a Principal Engineer and is now a Core Technology Manager, responsible for the testing and qualification of radiation detectors and the evaluation of new detector technologies.
