The East Tennessee Section held it's first Teacher In Service workshop on Oct. 26, 2006 for the Knox County Schools Professional Development Center in Knoxville. Eight science teachers and administrators participated. Terry Kurtz presented the program and Vernon Steele and Tim Bigelow assisted. The feedback was good and they especially enjoyed the hands-on "Build Your Own Robot Arm" lesson plan from the IEEE website:

The lesson plan requires analytical thought of conception, design, and testing. They worked in teams of 2 with assistance from Tim on one team and a student on another. The goal of the project is to lift a Styrofoam cup and they all succeeded.
