FWCS PES/IAS Outstanding Engineer Award
FWCS PES/IAS CHAPTER 2005/2006 OFFICERS Secretary/Treasurer, John Stankowich more... Chair, Tom Blair more..... Vice-Chair, George Bolos more.....
Our Mission: To serve the local power and industrial engineering community by promoting electrical safety, supporting standards development, and providing professional development opportunities and informational resources.
Welcome to the WEB page of the Florida West Coast Section's joint chapter of the Power Engineering Society and Industrial Applications Society. A list of upcoming and past seminars, tours, and meetings providing opportunities for professional development can be found at our meeting page. Additionally, the FWCS is honored to be the host for the general meeting for the IAS in 2006, the general meeting for the PES in 2007, and the annual meeting for the Industrial and Commercial Power Systems committee in 2008. There will be plenty of educational, standards development, and networking opportunities at these three conferences. We also actively promote and assist members with senior membership applications. If you have over 10 years experience, you may qualify for senior membership and we would like to work with you on your application. The local PES/IAS Chapter excom meets the last Thursday of every month at Village Inn in Tampa on Dale Mabry and member participation is ALWAYS welcome. We welcome suggestions and comments. Please contact any of the officers or volunteers listed above if we can be of service.
The IEEE Power Engineering Society is a worldwide, non-profit association of more than 20,000 individuals engaged in electric power engineering. PES members are involved in the planning, research, development, construction, installation, and operation of equipment and systems for the safe, reliable, and economic generation, transmission, distribution, measurement, and control of electric energy. The Power Engineering Society provides the world's largest forum for sharing the latest in technological developments in the electric power industry, for developing standards that guide the development and construction of equipment and systems, and for educating members of the industry and the general public. Members of the Power Engineering Society are leaders in this field, and they — and their employers — derive substantial benefits from involvement with this unique and outstanding association.
The scope of the IEEE Industry Applications Society, as a transnational organization, is the advancement of the theory and practice of electrical and electronic engineering in the development, design, manufacture and application of electrical systems, apparatus, devices, and controls to the processes and equipment of industry and commerce; the promotion of safe, reliable, and economic installations; industry leadership in energy conservation and environmental, health, and safety issues; the creation of voluntary engineering standards and recommended practices; and the professional development of its membership.
