As our electrical distribution infrastructure continues to be strained and the number and intensity of storms increases, back up power systems are becoming more and more critical every year. This evening we will learn about the key factors to consider in order to develop the most reliable back up power system for your facility or your customer. Topics we will cover include: selecting the best fuel source, NEC and NFPA requirements, engines and emissions, selecting the right type transfer switch, paralleling technologies, sizing a generator for a UPS and the importance of maintenance.

Biographical Sketch: Mr. Rob Robbins is a 1994 Mechanical Engineering graduate of the University of Virginia with a minor in Spanish. He is Vice President and part owner of Bay Diesel Corporation, the Generac Industrial Distributor for most of Virginia. He has been in the Power Generation Industry for 10 years and is a certified instructor through the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He sits on the board of Bay Diesel as well as Norfolk Festevents. In 2006, he was selected by Inside Business as one of Hampton Roads Top 40 Under 40 Individuals. When he is not generating power, you might find him running the Harborfest Parade of Sail, surfing, camping or just hanging out with his wife and 3 young boys.
