Is Your Password Secure?

The password is your most valuable security tool. Aside from actually keeping it secret, password selection is one of the most important security responsibilities you have. Good passwords have at least eight characters with a high degree of entropy. Increase character entropy by mixing lower and upper case letters, punctuation and numbers. According to the IEEE Security and Privacy, the best way to form a random password is to use a pass phrase. Create a familiar sentence, such as “This is 1really good password!” Use the first letter from each of the words to recreate the pseudo random password of “Ti1rgpw!
