JANUARY

  • The strategic planning meeting of the Jamaica Section was held on Wednesday, January 17 2007, at the conference room of the NWC MIS Department, Credit Union League Building, 2a Manhattan Rd, Kingston 5. Professional training seminars, celebration of the Section's 30th anniversary, member participation were, inter alia, the agenda items discussed.

FEBRUARY

  • The annual social of the Jamaica Section was held on February 17, 2007.

MARCH

  • Information Security:New Threats To Secure Banking was the topic for presentation and discussion at the Section's monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 28, 2007. The presenter was Mr Daniel Tulloch-Reid. The meeting was held at the Faculty Conference Room, 3rd Floor, School of Engineering, University of Technology, Jamaica at 6:00.pm.

APRIL

  • ExCom meeting.

MAY

  • Ethanol & Renewable Fuels was the topic for presentation and discussion at the Jamaica Section's monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the Faculty Conference Room, School of Engineering, University of Technology, Jamaica. The presenter was Mr Ricardo Neims, Manager of Ethanol Operations, Petrojam Ltd.

JUNE

  • IEEE Jamaica Section members were givena a tour of the television studios of Radio Jamaica Redifusion Ltd (Television Jamaica), on Wednesday, June 20, 2007.

JULY

  • "Automated-Drop-Out Switch for Distribution of High Voltage", was the topic for presentation and discussion at the Jamaica Section's monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at the Faculty Conference Room, School of Engineering, University of Technology, Jamaica. The presenter was Devon Gordon of the Jamaica Public Service Company Ltd. The meeting commenced at 6:30pm.

AUGUST

  • Mr Earl Barrett, Actg. Grpup Manufacturing & Development Manager, at the Caribbean Cement Company Ltd, gave a presentation on "Sustainable waste management in Jamaica through the use of waste derived fuels in Carib Cement's kiln" at the Jamaica Section's monthly meeting on Wednesday, August 15, 2007. The venue was the Faculty Conference Room, School of Engineering, University of Technology, Jamaica.

SEPTEMBER

  • CANCELLED!
    The Topic for presentation at the Jamaica Section's monthly meeting on September 19, 2007 is "Hardening Wireless Point of Sales Devices". Mr Sean Thorpe, Academic Advisor, IEEE Computer Society, Jamaica Chapter will be the guset presenter. The venue is the Faculty Conference Room, School of Engineering, University of Technology, Jamaica. The meeting is scheduled to commence at 5:30pm.

OCTOBER

  • Mr Richard Gibbs of the Airports Authority of Jamaica was the main presenter at the Jamaica Section's monthly meeting held at the School of Engineering, University of Technology, Jamaica on October 17, 2007. His topic was: Information Systems & Technologies to be implemented under the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) Terminal Expansion Project.

NOVEMBER

  • Class D Audio Power Aplifiers - was the main topic for presentation and discussion at the November 21, 2007 meeting of the Jamaica Section at the University of Technpology, Jamaica. The presenter was Mr Vincent Hewitt, Lecturer/Programme Leader - Electical Degree.

    The 30th Anniversary Awards Ceremony of the IEEE Jamaica Section was held at the Blue Mountain Suite of the Knutsford Court Hotel, 16 Chelsea Ave, Kingston 10 on Saturday, 24th November 2007, at 6:00pm. George F. McClure, IEEE Region 3 Director, was the guest speaker. Celia Desmond, IEEE Director and Secretary gave the keynote address.


DECEMBER

  • The 2007 Annual General Meeting of the Jamaica Section was be held at the faculty conference room (3rd floor) of the School of Engineering, University of Technology, Jamaica on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 6:00pm.
