National Engineers Week : Next Meeting : Editor: Officers

National Engineers week is February 20 to 26, 2001. As in the past, the Piedmont section will be doing visits to local Middle and High schools to give a presentation on Engineering to students. We do this in conjunction with the local Chapter of the Professional Engineers (NSPE). The visits are usually about 45 minutes and we have some prepared material to assist. In celebration of National Engineers Week, the SCSPE has invited the Piedmont section to join them in their annual National Engineers Week Banquet. Here are the details:

When: Friday, February 23rd (6:30 Social, 7:00 Dinner/Program)
Where: Gold Ballroom, Poinsett Hotel in downtown Greenville
Who: Speaker will either be Lt. Gov. Bob Peeler or U.S. Rep. Lindsay Graham
Cost: $40 for individuals, includes dinner, tea/coffee, dessert, service charge, and music
Activities: Speaker address, Engineer of the Year Award, 1st Annual Math and Science Teachers of the Year Awards
RSVP: is required. We need to get a list of our attendees to them by Friday Feb 16^th. If you don't know until later, please contact: Jim Cloonan at Jim_Cloonan@earthtech.com directly.

Getting the Newsletter too late to make the meeting? Have an email address? Send it to me. I am usually done with the newsletter more than a week in advance of the meeting, however, because of printing times, USPS, etc., it doesn’t arrive until just before the meeting. I do send the newsletter via email right after I write it! I can email it to you as soon as it’s done! The newsletter will come in plain text. It is also available online at the web page listed above.
