IEEE Recruitment is Job #1

Renew Your Membership

Have you renewed as of yet? If you have, thank you. You already know that you are receiving some very fine publications. You are receiving the Spectrum magazine; you are receiving the Region newsletter as well as the Section newsletter. You are able to network with your peers at local section meetings held once a month, which is very important in this day and age. You are able to learn about new technologies at the local meetings. If not, it’s not too late. If you are unemployed there is a discount for you to renew. There is great fellowship and information at our meetings. There are more reasons than I have space. So if you haven’t renewed please consider it.

One of the most important reasons could be mentoring! If you act as a mentor you are able to help a young engineer avoid the pitfalls that you have experienced. If you are the mentee, you are able to gain the value and experience of a seasoned engineer. The value which you receive from membership is only as rich as you are willing to put in. By the giving of your time, you not only enrich the career of a younger engineer, but you also might better understand a new technology learned from the younger engineer. A definite win-win situation! I hope that you will consider becoming an active member in the IEEE. It will benefit both the experienced and inexperienced.

IEEE Policy on Life Members

Life members are required to return their membership renewal form. No money is required; however, the form must be filled out and returned to headquarters. This was done to better serve you as a member. If you are a life member please take a few minutes to fill out your renewal form and mail it back to headquarters.

Senior Membership

On another note, are you a Senior Member? Would you like to be? IEEE is looking for new Senior Members.

When you upgrade to Senior Member status, you will receive a handsome fine wood and brass plaque to proudly display, and up to a 25 dollar gift certificate toward one new Society membership. The section will receive an additional rebate of 10 dollars. You will have the prestige of being a senior member. You will receive the professional recognition of your peers for technical and professional excellence, plus the prestige of being a senior member. A letter of commendation will be sent to your employer on the achievement of Senior Member grade (upon the request of the newly elected Senior Member.) There will be an announcement of elevation in Section/Society and/or local newsletters, newspapers and notices. You will be eligible to hold executive IEEE volunteer positions as well as serve as Reference for Senior Member applicants.
